CAIR-Columbus and ACLU of Ohio host a community discussion on the Muslim ban decision

On Wednesday, June 27, CAIR-Columbus Legal Director Romin Iqbal participated in a community discussion along with the ACLU of Ohio to discuss the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on the Muslim travel ban.  Romin Iqbal and Gary Daniels of the ACLU of Ohio were the two main speakers at this event. The event was open to all members of public and was well attended.

The speakers analyzed the U.S. Supreme Court decision to uphold the Muslim ban and discussed the ramifications of this decision for Muslim and other immigrant communities in the United States. The speakers also took questions from the audience on various aspects of this decision.

“We are bitterly disappointed with this decision. This Supreme Court decision will separate families and impose a real human cost on family members stuck abroad who have done nothing wrong,” said Iqbal. “This ban will not increase the security of this nation but will, in fact, make us all less safe.” Iqbal also expressed hope for the U.S. Congress to overturn the Muslim ban in the near future.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
