Amina Barhumi

Executive director

Amina Barhumi serves as the Executive Director of the Council of American Islamic Relations, Ohio Chapter, leading both Columbus and Cincinnati offices. As a lifelong human rights and democracy activist, she joined CAIR-Ohio in 2020, first as the Outreach Director, and then stepped up to lead the organization during a challenging transition. Today, she manages one of the most prominent CAIR offices in the country with a team of civil rights and social justice advocates dedicated to empowering American Muslims through legal services, legislative advocacy, and community organizing.

Under Amina’s leadership, CAIR-Ohio strengthened its organizational infrastructure, built and elevated community power, established new and improved existing local partnerships, and prioritized multiply-marginalized Muslim communities in Ohio.

Amina is deeply passionate about building capacity and power for Ohio Muslims. Through her work, she engages elected officials, media, local institutions, and the public about American Muslim issues. She strongly believes in investing in our future leaders through training and internship programs.

Amina earned her degree in Business Management from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is currently an MPA Candidate at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at the University of Syracuse. Amina has called Columbus home for over 13 years, along with her husband and four children.

Lina Abbaoui, esq.

Deputy & Legal Director

Born in Algiers, Algeria, Lina Abbaboui’s family emigrated to the United States when she was five months old. Lina earned her J.D. from Capital University Law School in 2015 and her B.S. in Biochemistry from The Ohio State University in 2011.

Lina joined Abercrombie & Fitch in 2015 as part of the Brand Protection team, working on Intellectual Property Enforcement matters, focused on A&F’s Anti-Counterfeiting initiatives. After two years with A&F, she was recruited by the A&F Global Employment Legal team where she was responsible for North American Labor and Employment compliance matters. While at A&F, Lina served on the A&F Executive Diversity and Inclusion Council.

For the past year, Lina was Corporate Counsel for ISK Americas, an agricultural chemical company, primarily focusing on contract drafting and compliance.

Victoria Hickcox

Outreach Director

Victoria Hickcox is our Outreach Director who leads partnerships and engagements to strengthen the local Muslim community. She has a strong commitment to social justice and is passionate about community organizing, civic engagement, and progressive policy change.

Victoria is from Phoenix and is an alumni of Arizona State University, where she earned her B.A. in Global Health and M.Ed in English. As an undergraduate, Victoria completed her honors thesis in Islamic Studies, focusing on the rights and position of Muslim women in Islam. Upon graduating she joined Teach for America where she served the Phoenix community and reinforced her belief that change begins with engaging the community and building collective power toward a better future.

Anisa Liban

Government Affairs Director

Anisa Liban is the Government Affairs Director at CAIR-Ohio, where she leads our efforts to engage with lawmakers and advocate for policy change on issues of affecting the Muslim community. She has a background in public service and community relations, as well as a degree in Public Affairs from The Ohio State University, where she also minored in Non-profit Studies and specialized in Non-profit Management.

Her professional experience includes serving as a Senior Legislative Aide at the Ohio Senate and Legislative Assistant at Columbus City Council. Anisa is a New-Leadership Ohio Alumna, New-American Leadership fellow, and is currently serving her 3rd year as a POWER Commissioner at The Ohio State University’s John Glenn College. She is a Columbus native and currently resides in Westerville, Ohio with her husband.

Monuza Ashraf

Executive Administrator

Monuza has been working in Operations for CAIR-Ohio since March 2017. She is originally from the UK where she earned her degree from Keele University in English Literature and Classics.

She has worked with various organizations as a website producer including Virgin.net and The London Business School in the UK and currently Noor Islamic Cultural Center.

Her job duties at CAIR include managing the website, daily office operations and event planning.

Sarah Mazouz

Client Intake Specialist

Sarah joined the CAIR Ohio team as the Operations Coordinator in October 2020. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2018 with her Bachelor of Science in Social Work. She has since spent her years working in the mental health field. Her most recent position was at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a Mental Health Specialist. Sarah enjoys giving back to the community and is a strong advocate for adequate mental health services. Sarah enjoys being outdoors, traveling, cooking, and spending time family and friends.

Fadila Gitosuputro

Creative Designer

Fadila Gitosuputro graduated from The Ohio State University with a BA in Communication Technology and a minor in Design Thinking. Her concentration was in Human-Computer Interaction.  Fadila has worked within the Operations team at CAIR-Ohio since August 2019.

At school, Fadila worked for her university’s theatre department as their Publicity and Promotions Assistant where she designed graphics for The Lab Series.

Fadila is also the Creatives Team Lead for IMSA (Indonesian Muslim Society in America) Youth. She leads a group of youth in creating social media graphics and also helps organize events/lectures for Indonesian youth across America.

Laila Hussein

Bookkeeper

Laila Hussein comes to CAIR-Ohio with a unique perspective and many years of business experience. As an entrepreneur, Laila worked inside diverse communities providing resources and building relationships. She has been involved in numerous charities and is excited to bring her nonprofit experience to benefit the Ohio Muslim community. She is particularly passionate about gender equality and mental health awareness.

Shireen Shaaban

Community Relations Assistant

Shireen Shaaban started with CAIR Ohio as a summer intern in 2021 and from that experience, she developed a strong rooted passion for civil rights and advocacy in the Muslim Community. As a recent graduate from The Ohio State University, she is excited to embark on her new journey as the Community Relations Assistant and is eager to learn and further expand her activism with all the opportunities her role provides.
