Ohio SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND COLLEGES TRANSITION TO REMOTE LEARNING
As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the state of Ohio some school districts, colleges and universities have begun transitioning to remote learning.
The following schools have announced plans to begin remote learning following Thanksgiving:
Circleville City Schools:
Students attending Circleville Schools will transitions to remote learning November 23-24 ahead of Thanksgiving, the district said.
Delaware City Schools:
Following a school board meeting, Delaware City Schools will be implementing remote learning November 30 through December 18th.
Fairfield Union Local School District:
Fairfield Union Local Schools announced students will be transitioning to remote learning starting on Friday, November 20th. The district said they hope to return to a Modified Green Status Level on Monday, December 7.
Groveport Madison Schools:
Groveport Madison Schools informed parents and students that it would be transitioning to 100% remote learning beginning on Wednesday, November 18. The District anticipates they will remain in a 100% online mode until mid-January.
Licking Heights Local School District:
Licking Heights Local School said they will begin virtual learning starting on Monday, November 23 and will remain on remote learning until December 18. The district said it may extend its virtual learning until January 15, 2021.
Logan-Hocking School District:
Logan-Hocking School District announced that students will transition to remote learning beginning on November 23 andremain on remote learning through at least December 4.
Newark City Schools:
Newark City Schools informed parents that students will begin Thanksgiving break starting on Monday, November 23. The district said students will return on Monday, November 30th.
Olentangy Local Schools:
Students attending Olentangy Schools will transition to virtual learning November 23-24 ahead of Thanksgiving, but school officials say students will then transition to a hybrid mode beginning on December 2.
Students attending Worthington Schools will return to remote learning on Monday, November 23rd and continue remotely until Friday, December 18th.
In Cuyahoga County, many districts have reconsidered plans to reintroduce students, or made a temporary switch to remote learning to help stem the spread of the coronavirus. Some districts are using state trends to make the decisions, while others are feeling the pressure that local coronavirus cases put on staffing.
The most recent map from the Ohio Department of Education shows that between Sept. 21 and Nov. 12, the number of public districts planning for 5-day and hybrid models went up. Only 45 districts were reported as staying all-remote. Most school districts were in hybrid models.
Colleges and Universities:
The Ohio State University announced it has adjusted the academic calendar for the fall semester. The university said the last day of in-person, on-campus instruction is will be November 25, from their students will transition to virtual learning from November 30 to December 4. Final exam will be held December 7-11 and will be online.
The university also said students will return to remote learning during the first two weeks of the spring semester (January 11-15 and 18-22)
