(COLUMBUS, OHIO 6/8/2022) – The Ohio Redistricting Commission has yet again failed to convene, schedule any public hearings, provide any sort of fair map, or adhere to any of the requirements of the ruling by the Ohio Supreme Court.

In May, the Court ruled that the maps submitted—which were identical to the one submitted and struck down in February were in violation of the Court’s order to supply a non-partisan and fair map that accurately represented how Ohioans vote. The Commission had a deadline of June 6 to supply maps that did not unduly favor a particular party but decided to let the clock run out without any plan of fulfilling the requirements.

The Commission has continued to ignore the Court’s deadlines and orders for fair maps. CAIR-Ohio and other plaintiffs in the suit Ohio Organizing Collaborative v. Ohio Redistricting Commission are continuing legal action against ORC for their flagrant disregard of the Court and the will of Ohio voters.
